This weekend, our General Manager Glen is taking on the Queenstown Marathon alongside a few old university mates, all in celebration of his 50th birthday and in support of a remarkable young man who’s inspired him deeply.

Glen and his family are close friends of Madds and Dave Berry, whose 17-year-old son Jake suffered a rare spinal stroke just over a year ago that left him paralysed from the waist down.

Since that day, Jake’s courage and determination have been nothing short of extraordinary. Once a fearless skier and mountain biker, he’s refused to let his injury define him, finding new ways to chase adventure and inspiring everyone around him with his positivity and grit.

Motivated by Jake’s spirit, Glen decided to mark his 50th by stepping far outside his comfort zone to run 42.2 kilometres through the Queenstown hills to raise funds for Jake’s future goals (which might just include competing as a Paralympic skier one day).

We’re proud to cheer on Glen and the team this weekend, proof that when Kiwis look out for one another, there’s no limit to what can be achieved.
